About

Hello! Welcome to Kin Across the Seas, the blog for the Green Family tree

Naturally curious, I enjoy being the researcher, travelling across time and putting all the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle together. Unravelling the people, places and journeys to better understand the collective heritage of my ancestors. I love being the detective and digging deep to unlock the hidden stories.

My interest in history and my family tree began at an early age, and my Nan loved helping in research. A favourite subject at school, my love continues and I love exploring and discovering historical places on my travels, and better understanding the social and cultural landscapes. I’ve become the keeper of family records, memoirs and mementos since my parents have passed. Even finding my first school project on my family.

As I have delved into research again, mostly to use DNA to find my dad’s father, I’ve been discovering so much. It’s mind boggling when thinking about it, and when sharing with my family. So Kin Across the Seas is born. To share with close family and make it available for our younger generations. Remembering the lives of the ancestors that have shaped our family and given us unimaginable opportunities.

I write about the people, places and journeys, and their stories from past times and events. I journal the highs and lows of undertaking the research, along with the challenges and obstacles. I undertake most of the research myself, always credit other researchers and ensure the privacy of living kin. I welcome feedback and open to collaborating on mutual family branches. I’d love you to get in touch.
